Choose aspect ratio, cropping and target pixels deliberately

Resize Image accepts a width, a height or both for one JPG, PNG or WebP file and validates dimensions from 1 to 8192 pixels. It does not enlarge beyond the source, avoiding the impression that a small image has gained detail it never contained.

Fit inside preserves aspect ratio within the target box, Cover preserves ratio but may crop the edges, and Stretch forces the exact width and height even when that distorts the picture. The process keeps the source extension, so verify properties such as PNG transparency in the result.

Practical checklist

  • Enter only width or only height to let the other dimension follow the natural ratio, which is the safest starting point for logos and photographs.
  • Use Cover when a banner box must be filled with no empty area, then inspect the preview to ensure important content was not cut from an edge.
  • Choose Stretch only when the target ratio already matches the source, otherwise circles and faces can appear unnaturally wide or narrow.
